How to calculate biweekly gross pay
Biweekly pay means you are paid every two weeks. Most standard biweekly payroll calculations use 26 pay periods per year. Our calculator handles annual salary or hourly wage so you can quickly estimate the amount of a gross paycheck.
If your salary is $62,400 per year, the typical two-week gross amount is:
How much is a salary every two weeks?
A standard biweekly payroll estimate divides annual gross salary into 26 equal pay periods.
| Annual gross salary | Biweekly gross pay | Average monthly gross pay |
|---|---|---|
| $40,000.00 | $1,538.46 | $3,333.33 |
| $50,000.00 | $1,923.08 | $4,166.67 |
| $52,000.00 | $2,000.00 | $4,333.33 |
| $60,000.00 | $2,307.69 | $5,000.00 |
| $75,000.00 | $2,884.62 | $6,250.00 |
Actual paychecks can differ due to deductions, pay calendars, or variable hours. Biweekly (26 periods) is not the same as twice monthly (24 periods).
What if I am paid hourly?
For a fixed schedule, multiply your hourly wage by the hours you work per week and then by two. At $30 per hour and 40 hours per week, your estimated two-week gross pay is $2,400. This assumes both weeks have the same hours and all hours are paid at the standard rate.
Biweekly vs. twice monthly
Biweekly means every two weeks, typically 26 checks annually. Semimonthly means twice a month, exactly 24 checks a year. Dividing an annual salary by 24 produces a different paycheck amount from dividing by 26.
Why might my actual paycheck differ?
Taxes, employee benefits, retirement contributions, overtime, shift premiums, unpaid time off, and differences in payroll calendars affect real checks. Some calendar years can include 27 biweekly paydays depending on pay dates and employer practices; the calculator uses a simplified 26-period year.
