Let's calculate.
Current gross pay plus the raise
How to calculate a pay raise
A raise calculator shows how much a percentage increase adds to your current salary or hourly rate. Select how you are paid, enter your gross pay and the raise percentage, and compare the new amount with your current pay.
New pay = Current pay + Raise amount
For a $60,000 annual salary and a 5% raise:
How much is a 3%, 5%, or 10% pay raise?
For an employee earning $50,000 a year before taxes, here is how common percentage raises change annual salary.
| Raise | Additional annual pay | New annual salary |
|---|---|---|
| 3% | $1,500.00 | $51,500.00 |
| 4% | $2,000.00 | $52,000.00 |
| 5% | $2,500.00 | $52,500.00 |
| 7% | $3,500.00 | $53,500.00 |
| 10% | $5,000.00 | $55,000.00 |
Figures are gross amounts. For a different salary or an hourly wage, enter your pay and raise percentage in the calculator above.
The increase is an extra $250 per month on average ($3,000 ÷ 12), before taxes and deductions. Monthly and biweekly differences shown above are based on a full year.
How does a raise work for hourly employees?
If you earn $25 per hour and get a 5% raise, your new hourly rate becomes $26.25, or $1.25 more each hour. To estimate the annual impact, the tool multiplies the hourly change by your weekly hours and 52 weeks. It does not estimate overtime premiums.
Does a 5% raise mean 5% more take-home pay?
Not necessarily. Take-home pay depends on taxes, benefits, retirement deductions, payroll settings, and the number of hours you work. This calculator only estimates gross earnings.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a 3% raise?
Multiply your current salary by 0.03, then add the increase to your existing salary. For $50,000 per year, a 3% raise is $1,500, making the new salary $51,500.
Can I calculate a pay raise on an hourly wage?
Yes. Choose “Hourly wage” and enter your current hourly rate, raise percentage, and hours worked each week.
Does the calculator factor in inflation?
No. This is a nominal raise calculator. A raise above or below inflation changes purchasing power differently.
