Salary to Hourly
Calculator.
Convert an annual US salary into an hourly pay estimate, plus weekly, monthly, and biweekly gross pay.
Let's calculate.
Annual salary divided by estimated yearly work hours
How to convert annual salary to hourly pay
To estimate your effective hourly wage, divide your gross annual salary by the total hours you expect to work over the year. This is especially useful when comparing a salaried job offer with an hourly position.
For a $62,400 annual salary with a 40-hour workweek and 52 paid weeks:
What is a $40,000–$75,000 salary per hour?
For a standard 40-hour, 52-week schedule, divide annual salary by 2,080 hours to estimate an hourly equivalent.
| Annual salary | Hourly equivalent | Biweekly gross average |
|---|---|---|
| $40,000.00 | $19.23/hour | $1,538.46 |
| $50,000.00 | $24.04/hour | $1,923.08 |
| $52,000.00 | $25.00/hour | $2,000.00 |
| $60,000.00 | $28.85/hour | $2,307.69 |
| $75,000.00 | $36.06/hour | $2,884.62 |
Hourly figures are rounded to the nearest cent. This comparison does not include overtime, unpaid work, or benefits.
What if I work fewer weeks?
At the same $62,400 salary and 40-hour workweek, working 48 weeks instead of 52 gives an effective hourly rate of $32.50. This assumes you still receive the entire annual salary; it does not imply your employer will pay that rate.
What about biweekly and monthly pay?
This tool also shows average gross pay per two-week pay period (annual salary ÷ 26) and per month (annual salary ÷ 12). These are averages, not guarantees of the amount on a particular paycheck.
Does salary to hourly include taxes?
No. All values are gross pay. Income taxes, benefits, insurance premiums, retirement contributions, overtime, and bonuses are not included.

How many hours are in a standard work year?

Can I use this to compare job offers?
Yes, for a basic gross-pay comparison. Also consider paid time off, benefits, bonuses, and expected unpaid hours.
Is a salaried worker guaranteed overtime pay?
